I love Apple!

You know there are some icons that just transcend translation. In any language, I know what's Apple! I've been won over to the happy side--with a Mac book and my new iPhone 4, and now our joint iPad. Don't tell my husband I said that--it was really his birthday present, but only because I insisted he needed it (i.e. I needed an excuse to get my hands on one.)

Apple stores in the States are pretty incredible, but the Apple store here on Regent Street in London is awesome!

At 28,000 square feet it was the first European store Apple opened, back in 2004.

The company's senior VP of retail has proclaimed it to be the busiest Apple store in the world. It takes in more cash per square foot than Harrod's, making it the most profitable store in London for its size.

I love the 64 seat theatre which hosts drop-in free workshops all day long for beginnners to pros.

I love how friendly and helpful the staff is, even when they are packed wall to wall.

The store went crazy with the sale of iPhone 4! I love that you can buy an unlocked iPhone4 in the UK, choose from many options for a carrier, or even do a pay as you go. All that adds up to much cheaper rates than in the US. AT&T, are you listening?

I love that little fairies realize how magical the Happy place is, and choose to shop there.

And most of all I love that an even bigger store, the 300th Apple store, and the largest in the world, has just opened in Covent Garden since I was last in town, and I can't wait to check it out and report back to you.

  1. I love Apple too!! I used to work across the street from the Apple Corp. when it first started many years ago in Cupertino, California. I will be updating my old IPhone with the new one in the next month or so! Yeah!

  3. Ohhhh, Debi! You just made me Happy, too! All Apple household here, and converted the rest of my family. I LOVE the tour of the Regents Street store and will share it with my hubby in the morning. I so hear you about AT&T. D got his unlocked to use when he goes to South America and it is much cheaper. I wish we had the options, too. But we LOVE our iPhone4s! Can't wait to see the Covent Garden store!! Thank you!

  5. I'm sure I'm your only friend to visit you in London who took a class at the Apple store while you and another friend went to a museum!! I guess I'll have to come back now to see the Covent Garden store, right?

I guess I'm going to have to start writing the "powers that be" at Apple and begging for a store in Northwest Florida. It's just ridiculous that the closest store to me is five hours away. Yes, I'm whining!

Happy for you though ... have you checked out the new Apple TV for only $99??

  10. What a store - that beats anything I have seen here. Everyone I know that has an Apple, swares buy it. I do wish it had a bigger place in the American market. Micro soft products are becoming less convenient to use, I think they believe they have to put out something new, even if it is not as good as what it is replacing. My husband gets into a rut very easily, so it will be a while before he will look at anything else. Of course he does do a lot of work at home and the businessess he works with use microsoft - I think that is the problem. So enjoy your Apple and raise one for me.

  11. I chose a Macbook to take to college because it is what Elle Woods had in Legally Blonde and I have never regretted it and been a solid believer in the apple ever since!

  12. Debi...this post is speaking to me loud and clear! We are on the same wave length...Apple is a beautiful word and even better when and if I get my hands on one of those ipads and a mac laptop....(might as well wish it all up!)

So nice to go into this store and just be! I missed the little theatre...good to know!

    Best wishes...

  14. Hi Debi,
WOW! Now that is a shop! I can honestly say that I am thinking about making the change. You should be their spokeswoman.

  15. I Jenny N have a confession to make: I have never touched an Apple of the techie variety, I mean. this shop is impressive and the technology is certainly impressive but I have not yet indulged in the love or use of Apple anything. So this monster store was an eye opener to me...then the other blog I love to read http://giftsofthejourney.wordpress.com/, Elizabeth is right now in London and what does she blog about on her first day in London (the day after your Apple post)..yes, her visit to the Covent Garden Apple store. Now, I consider myself "In the know". Enjoy your/y'all's iPad! Loved! the Albert memorial post today. I will have to get my hands on a good book about Victoria and Albert.

  16. I'm still waiting for my magical Apple moment. So many of my loved ones are crazed Apple fanatics, but in my experience I've stood around for 5-10 minutes waiting for help (3 different times), and the one guy that I've actually talked with seemed a bit stoned. Maybe next time.
