Time to Celebrate

This post marks a milestone for me--it is my 100th post. Little did I know when I started this blog last summer, how much joy it would bring me to share my life and my discoveries with you. I started out hoping that family and close friends would have a better idea of all the things we were experiencing traveling back and forth each month from Houston to London. Then to my delight, many more of you started telling me how much you were enjoying the stories, and with your encouragement to continue on, I've kept writing to the point that I've now reached Post 100. Many thanks to all of you--old friends and new blogging friends around the world for your interest and good wishes.

To celebrate this occasion, I've decided to give away a little touchstone of London. Pictured in the basket below is a tea towel featuring some of the major sites of London that I would love to send to one of my readers.

I hope you'll enjoy finding all the sites that you've seen or read about in the city we all love. Here's just a quarter of the map! Recognize some landmarks?

And below is a close-up of my "neck of the woods" between the area of Chelsea Town Hall and the Chelsea Physic Garden.  See the little lady carrying her groceries--that's me trudging home from the grocers with my daily load!

So...what do you have to do to be eligible to win? So, so simple--just leave a comment on my blog saying what you would love to see if you come to London. The contest will be open until midnight on February 14, after which I'll pick a winner at random and ship it off to you. Can't wait to see what your favorite places would be!

For all my friends who have given me verbal comments or Facebook comments through the months because you weren't sure how to go about leaving comments on a blog, here's a quick tutorial. You will find at the bottom of the post something like "5 Comments" or the words "Post a Comment." Click on the word Comments. You will next see a box where you can then write your comment.  Now, you must choose an identity. If you have a Google/Blogger account, you click on that option. If you have another blog service, you can click on the Open ID option. The next option would be to click on name/ URL site (for those who have their own website.) No website? Then just type in your name only. The final option is Anonymous, but for this contest's purpose, I would need you to identify yourself. You're almost done now--if you'd like to Preview it to see what it looks like, you may by clicking on that button, but when you are ready to submit the comment, you click Publish. Hope that helps.
Good luck!

  1. I think I would like to be there in the Spring to see all the beauty of the flowers, but I always love the food segments - the open markets fascinate me.

  2. I would love to see everything. We have visited London, but there is only so much you can see in a short time. I would love to have more time to spend in the British museum. We only had a few short hours. Not nearly enough for someone who likes to look at and read everything!

  3. Congratulations on your 100th post! And that is an admirable commute you manage :) I love London and although I lived there for many years, I never did get around to taking a rowing boat out on the Serpentine so that's something I'd still like to do. Then perhaps a picnic lunch in the park... Lovely!

  4. congrats! I went to London once when I was 13, and I've always wanted to go back. The first thing I want to do is go to Westminster Abbey and do brass rubbings. I don't know if you can still do it, but I would love to do one and hang it in my home. Cute post btw from BYW to another!

  6. Hmmm ... this is a tough one!! I've been to London and done some of the "touristy" things so if I get to visit you this Spring I'm looking forward to just hanging out with my local friend doing what locals do! As you know I'm easily entertained ... maybe we could go on a fun photo shoot and then end the afternoon at your favorite cupcake shop!

  7. I would love to return to Kensington Palace's The Orangery to leisurely take in an afternoon cream tea (we did it in a rush, but totally relished every bite and sip we could). I want to see the Cabinet War rooms and visit the Churchill museum. The British Library. Each of the parks...oh my I would just love to do it all again. Congrats on the 100. I am so blessed by your kindess and encouragment and thankful that you show yourself to be an unashamed woman of faith on your blog. What a sweet Idea to have a giveaway and I love the tea towel.

  10. Congrats on your 100th blog. Your traveling back and forth-the best of both worlds, how wonderful.Sadly, I have never been to London, Beijing-yes, London-no! So, although the touristy things are nice, I think I would rather visit one of your favorite places-perhaps a garden or market. That would be very nice!

  11. Bonjour Debi,
Congratulations on your 100th post. I was in Paris Christmas a year ago and stumbled on the sweetest little tea salon off Brompton Road, can't remember the name but would love to find it again.
    Good evening!

  12. Ooh, tough question. I've thoroughly enjoyed every show I've seen in London, and would love to indulge in a few more if we head that way again. I'm intrigued by Billy Elliot, and of course I would love to experience Les Mis with the rest of the Kirkseys. Congratulations on your milestone post!!

My favorite bit of London is the South Bank--I love people-watching, going to the National Theatre, shopping at Gabriel's Wharf, and just generally hanging out. I hope to get back someday soon!

When I go back to London, I would love to see the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Those are two sites I missed in my one day whirlwind tour of London... of course, I would like YOU to be my personal tour guide.

  20. 100 POSTS?? And hopefully, 1,000's more to go. I LOVE the words, the pictures....all of it! You do a great job, Mrs. K. When I go back to London with you, I want to go to where Beatric Potter lived. I'm sure it's a day's train ride, but that's o.k. As long as the train doesn't go under water!! Kiss kiss
