First Anniversary

Sunday was Jason and Cristen's first wedding anniversary. Since they are currently visiting us here in London, Jason asked for some suggestions about a romantic dinner spot with a view.
He ended up taking Cristen to the restaurant atop the OXO tower located on the south bank of the Thames River. The building has an interesting history. Originally constructed as a power station at the end of the 19th century, it was largely rebuilt between 1928-1929 in an Art Deco design by an architect hired by the Liebig Extract of Meat Company, manufacturers of the Oxo beef stock cubes. The letters OXO were spelled out in geometrical windows as a permanent advertisement. Today it houses arts and crafts shops, apartments and an elegant restaurant owned by Harvey Nichols.
Jason kept the location a surprise for Cristen.
The restaurant is located on the eighth floor of the OXO building with spectacular views of St. Paul's Cathedral and the embankment.
Watching the sun go down was one of the highlights of the night.
After dining on halibut and sea bass, they treated themselves to dessert. Strawberry souffle, mini cheesecakes and a scoop of vanilla ice cream all on one platter.
A spectacular end to a special night. Best wishes to Jason and Cristen for many happy years ahead.
